| Electro Mechanical Speed Switch: A direct coupled speed indicating switch that opens or closes contacts mechanically as a function of the rotational speed of the switch shaft. The speed the switch trips at is dependent on the construction of the switch or adjusting internal components. Electro Mechanical Speed Switches include: Electronic Speed Switch: A direct coupled speed indicating speed switch that opens or closes a set of contacts through a relay and an electronic circuit. The speed the switch trips at is dependent upon user defined switch settings and the rotational input speed of the switch shaft. Electronic Speed Switches include: Proximity Speed Switch: A non-contacting speed switch, which relies on a proximity sensor to pickup a rotating piece of ferrous metal. The switch counts between proximity sensor impulses using a microcomputer and discrepancies in pulse time are analyzed by the circuitry. If the impulses are out of the preprogrammed limits a set of contacts are opened or closed using a relay.
